Winged Kitty |

|
In the sculptor's words...The cat was
originally sculpted almost as a one line joke so when I started to analyze it I was a
little surprised at all the different aspects I can find in the sculpture. In addition to
the humor, I've captured a sense of adventure. The cat, with homemade wings strapped to
his arms, wearing goggles and a dapper ascot, attempts the impossible and does it with
style. The sculpture is serious in a playful sort of way. I love the cat's audacity and
his confidence makes me envious. The part of my personality that is timid and petty just
knows that he is going to fall on his face but my more noble self knows that no success is
ever achieved without risk and I say to the kitty, "Go for it, you can fly".
