Waking Dragon

Waking Dragon by Jeff Tritel

In the sculptor's words...

The dragon is curled around in sleep, just waking up, picking his head up off his tail. He is not just suggested in. He is modeled in extreme detail and finished with a polished underside. The dragon isn't doing anything terrible reptilian. He stretches his bottom claws like a cat. He scratches behind his horn more the way a dog would, while the right side of the dragon, still curled around in sleep, has the wing claw holding onto his leg. I see him being a cold blooded reptile and waking up very slowly. Here, his potential is only implied through the use of detail. You see all the teeth, feel the leatheriness of his wings. If I were to depict him rearing up and breathing fire, it would put a limit on his potential. It's like "well, that's all there is, folks". Instead, I've left that potential to your imagination.
