Sea Beast |

In the sculptor's words...This was a sculpture that I started without a specific intent. I started
with hot wax, squashed it in my fingers; the overall shape became suggested by the first
random movements of the wax itself. Once I had established the idea of the centaur-fish,
it seemed to develop a tremendous sense of power and forceful movement. I've emphasized
that movement over and over again in the curved rhythms set up in the thrust of the
forward legs, the bottom fins, the dorsal fin, the mermaid's tail, and the echoing rhythms
in the beast's tail There is a feeling of commitment. I see them moving together through
time.
