Nymph with a
Butterfly |

|
In the sculptor's words...I started with the
butterfly, a feminine image and traditional symbol of freedom. Taking that theme of
freedom, I've freed the sculpture in space. Her right leg is put on sideways which kicks
the movement around to the left. This movement is picked up again by the bent arm. In this
way the sculpture is freed up in space and is kept from being too linear. Her face is a
little on the animal side, creating a continuity between the top and bottom halves of the
sculpture which are otherwise so different from each other. She is joyous and sexy.
