The “Construction Worker” was developed from actual experience. Fatigue from heavy labor can make me feel stupid or dull. This worker hangs from a pipe in an almost simian manner. His arms are oversized and powerful and yet the way the triceps hangs there makes me feel his sense of exhaustion. The shape of his pants is interesting and creates nice shadows but if you look carefully there is no room for anatomical legs in there. I remember that after my first day of doing pick and shovel work that my legs had absolutely turned to rubber. The belt on the pants only goes halfway around. It’s as if little pieces of me were missing. “Construction Worker” is part of the "No Visible Means of Support Series.”
