In the
sculptor's words...
The Black Girl has a very formal
geometric structure that allows her to successfully lean at her radical angle.
The end result is an attitude of sauciness and confidence.
The geometric structure that I am talking about is that if you look at the
sculpture carefully youll notice that the distance across the elbows is the same as
the distance from the back of the head to the front of the toes. This
creates a square and that one distance is twice the height. The
angle of her breasts, that very unnatural angle, is perpendicular to the line down her
back. This creates a brace and keeps the sculpture from visually
falling over. Black Girl is part of the No
Visible Means of Support series.
