In the sculptor's words...
I originally sculpted this
piece depicting a woman caught in a man's world but that is just where the interpretation
starts. She is the act. They exist for her. One male could
represent leaving family and going to a lover or it could be moving from the secular to
the religious. The male figures are almost totem-like. The figure on the
raised toes could be exhibiting a self defeating behavior. If he lowered
himself, would she roll towards him? |
